I need your help! I know a lot about E39 M5's and 540i's, but barely anything about the 525i. I'm also interested in buying a 5MT 2001 525i with 97k mile's on it. Any of you care to give some word's of wisdom?

It's likely the most reliable and cheapest on fuel and parts. A great chassis and power is adequate. Make sure it doesn't leak oil and check the bushings. Get a manual transmission and you won't regret it. But if you can do it, get a 540.

I would, but I can't seem to find a manual transmission 540i anywhere near me. The few that I have found were going for around $15k and at that price, I'd rather just spend another $5k and get a nicer M5.

Where are you located? I'm always searching for E39 M5's. Color? Mileage? Do you have service records?

I'm in Elizabeth, NJ. It's Silver Metallic, 84k miles. I don't have full service records, but I have done the thermostat, flushed coolant, done an oil change, and fixed a few odds and ends, to which I do have receipts. It has a Dinan Exhaust and Dinan ECU (I have the receipt for that as well, it was around $2200). It comes with AC Schnitzer Type IV 19" Staggered rims, StopTech crossdrilled rotors, and it also has a larger lip spoiler, but I'm not sure of the brand. It has a 2001 widescreen navigation and 2-tone BMW black/dove sport seats with Ostrich texture on the inserts. It also has the rear shade package and rear backup sensors. I haven't done any in-depth orprofessional pics yet because of the weather that's been hitting my area for the last 2 months. I also have the complete Autocheck vehicle history report, which is absolutely clean.

Hmmm that's really tempting. Do you have a link to an ad for it? I'm in Northern VA so it's around 4 hours to drive up to you. This is so tempting.......

I would, but I already have a perfectly good E90. This is just a fun car/reliable beater.
If I found a Manual 540i msport in NY (I'm in VA) I'd definitely go up and buy it. The nicer the car, the further I'll travel

I can check the Mannheim auction listings at work later.

That'd be great, thanks man. 530/540i's with a Manual transmission and sport package are really my only requirements. There is wiggle room on the sports package too.
Anything in the DC area would be prime. I'm located in Northern Virginia

Will do, these are dealer only auctions so you may need to find a broker or friend with a dealers license.

Yeah I tried to browse their site but I needed an account.
I think my dad might have a friend with a dealers license, I'll give him a call later tonight.

I have my personal notes in my android, but I never really use it for work passwords just in case.

I'm that guy that doesn't really let other people mess around with his phone, and has a really complicated password, so hopefully that's enough to keep my passwords safe haha.

I'm looking forward to upgrading to a iPhone 5s because of the fingerprint scanner. I'll be able to unlock my phone without even taking it out of my pocket haha!

Honestly, I've always preferred android phones, but my las phone (LG marquee) made me hate android phones. I probably won't be owning another one anytime soon just because of that shitty LG phone.

Don't say that, I am about to get the Nexus 5 by LG. What was your issue?

The power button stopped working. I had to have someone call me just to unlock my phone. Eventually I downloaded an app that used the volume button as a power button, but then it stopped charging unless I held the wire at a certain angle. Eventually the volume button trick stopped working, and I figured out that if I plugged my headphones in and hit the volume button it would unlock. Eventually it stopped charging all together, so I removed the battery and put it in some old android I had just to charge it up and put it back in the LG. Barely worked (charged it to 40%). To top all of this off the internet was working extremely slow, and using wifi barely ever worked. The times it did work I would spend 30 minutes just trying to get connected to it.
It wasn't a bad phone when it was working, it just didn't work very often haha. Don't worry though, the LG marquee was just a crappy phone. I don't think you'll experience all that.

I cut my teeth on the EVO 4g and then two years ago upgraded to the EVO 4G LTE, amazing phone. I also do the repairs to my own phones, so I'm not too concerned about hardware issues. As long as the software is consistent.

I wanted an EVO 4g so bad, but I paid $1 for the LG marquee and at the time it was one of the best looking/feeling (it was paper light) phones I could find. All the EVO 4g's at the sprint stores were either sold out or refurbished. I sure was a dummy. I eventually took it apart after getting an iPhone 5. It's a very weak phone. Oh so fragile...

I ended up with 3 different EVOs that I parted out to keep all of my friends and my own phone working properly. Mostly speakers were going out.

I planned on moving up to an EVO but my lg experience made me have a bitter hatred of android for a while. Then I used my brothers galaxy S3. Great phone. I helped him replace the LED screen on it. Only broke because he dropped it in a puddle while changing a flat tire in the rain.

If you can procure an EVO LTE that thing is bulletproof. I have dropped it from eight feet onto concrete and only the chassis bent a bit, no issues with it whatsoever. I throw it at the wall occasionally to prove a point against some of my more elitist apple savvy friends.

Might switch to one if things go south with the iPhone. I really miss how easy it is to get free stuff with the android.
